About the Academy

Discipline. Focus. Evolve.

These aren't just words painted on our walls — they are the values we live by every single day. At BJJ 2.0, we use Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and our various striking programmes as tools for lifelong evolution. We strip away the ego to provide an environment built on consistency, sharp focus, and mutual respect. When you step onto our mats, you aren't just joining a gym, you are becoming part of a happy, supportive family and a thriving community. Discipline here means showing up even on the days motivation fades, while evolution is the ultimate reward: a continuous journey of personal growth that transforms both your mind and body alongside people who want to see you succeed.

HEAD COACH & FOUNDER

WADE"THE GOAT" HENDERSON

Wade Henderson was there at the beginning. When the EFC held its very first event, he was on the card, and over the twenty-three years that followed he became one of the enduring figures of African mixed martial arts. More than thirty professional bouts across multiple eras of the sport. International titles in mixed martial arts, Muay Thai, kickboxing and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. And the rare distinction of stepping up to compete across four different weight divisions, taking on bigger men because the fight was there and he wanted it. He closed the career on his own terms in August 2023, with a submission win fifty-three seconds into the first round.

The technical foundation runs deeper than the cage. He lived and trained in Rio de Janeiro, learning jiu-jitsu at its source, and was awarded his black belt in 2023, receiving his first degree in 2026. Before that he spent two years in Phuket at Tiger Muay Thai, one of the most respected camps in the world, as assistant MMA instructor and fight team coordinator, preparing international fighters for competition. BJJ 2.0 carries the Grappling Fight Team banner, which means the curriculum and grading standard taught here are tied directly to one of the most decorated jiu-jitsu organisations in the world.

What that adds up to is simple enough. Every submission, sweep and defensive layer taught on this mat has been tested at the highest level of pressure the sport offers, by the man teaching it.

Twenty years of coaching have gone into how he now runs a room. He has developed complete beginners, corporate clients and professional fighters, and he teaches all three the same way: a technique you cannot explain is a technique you do not own yet. Classes move from a position, to the mechanics that make it work, to live rounds where you find out what actually holds up. He would rather you understood three things properly this month than collected thirty you will never use.

He is deliberate about beginners in particular. New people get paired carefully, told what the round is for, and never left to work out survival on their own. That is a coaching decision rather than a courtesy, because the people who are looked after in month one are the people still training in year three. The standard for the room comes from him. Hard training, no egos, nobody proving a point on a first-timer. If someone cannot train that way, they do not train here.
